Farmington Pond Fish Report

1-8-2015
Utah Division of Wildlife

There is a little open water around the inlet. Otherwise, the reservoir is capped under five to six inches of clear ice. Please keep in mind that ice thickness can change quickly in warmer weather. Use extreme caution and common sense when venturing out. Fishing is hot right now, and many people are catching 8- to 10-inch trout as well as some brood stock. Andrew Skinner, an angler from Farr West, fished the pond on New Year's Day and caught a 20-inch brood stock rainbow. He and his friend each caught about 12 fish. The trout are biting on small (size 12) Ratfinkees tipped with a mealworm or spike. The trout appear to be biting throughout the water column, but you may have more success if you let your bait sit just above the bottom of the pond. Thanks for the report, Andrew.
