Gallatin River Fish Report

11-6-2014
Gallatin River Guides

If you head to the Gallatin don't worry about getting an early start. Afternoons will fish the best with small Pat's Brown Rubber legs #10-12, Thin Mint's #18, Baetis foam nymphs #18-20. Look for many of the fish to be stacked up in the shallow riffles and at the heads of pools. Streamers are always a good bet this time of year and you will want to fish smaller Sculpzillas in olive or an Olive wooly bugger. Try a slower strip or even dead drift these little streamers. As with the Madison you will want to keep an eye out for Baetis and Midges here. Adam's Cripples #18, Missing Link olive #20 and a Baetis Sparkle Dun #20-22 will get these fish up to the surface.
