Channel Islands Sportfishing
Could the marine forecast be more wrong? A day that was supposed to be blown out with clearing winds ended up being an absolutely beautiful day! Most of our boats cancelled last night choosing to err on the side of caution. The two boats that did make it out had good fishing at the islands.
The Cobra had a full day trip with 11 anglers depart at 4AM this morning. They quickly hooked a few yellowtail at Anacapa Island, landing only one. Big fish said captain John Sudac. He said they also had a flat fish but lost it to a sea lion after a good fight. Captain John said it was a nice halibut for sure.
The Gentleman got out with 41 anglers on an open 3/4 day trip that left at 6AM this morning. Today was the "Gent's" kids ride free* trip and had several youngsters enjoy good bottom fishing for reds. A few lingcod were caught this afternoon too, jackpot fish was a 12lb ling. Captain Mark Sawa ran the Gentleman today and couldn't express enough how nice the weather was. He also mentioned what a nice group of anglers he had fishing with him today.
Everyone came back with nice bags of fish and enough time to make it home for the Sunday night football game!
