Firehole River Fish Report

The Firehole continues to enrich the lives of anglers. We've had great emergences of Baetis as well as White Millers. It seems the weather can do no wrong for the fishing. Even when the fish are tough to catch, one can enjoy the sight of the emergence. As always, swinging soft hackles will be the most productive method of fishing. The risers will be easiest to catch when they are eating Baetis. In this case you want to have a size 22 sparkle dun. These insects are incredibly small. Also, focus on your casting here. I think it's fascinating that the fish here can seem like the easiest fish and the smartest fish in the same day. If you want to fish for spawners the Firehole Canyon has produced for some anglers. A rubberleg nymph-rig would be your go-to setup here.
