Coronado Islands Fish Report
9-5-2014
Gary Graham
Status quo ... Very few, if any boats are coming here most days. Lots of small yellowtail and bonito around the Islands right now, though very few guys are stopping in to fish them. The Navy is checking nearly everyone who comes to the Islands so be sure you have your FMM and Fishing Permit for everyone on board.
Ribbon Kelp, 5-Minute Kelp, and South Kelp are all working great. The yellows are in the 6- to 12-pound class.
The sea lions are brutal. Slow trolling sardines is the best tactic as the sea lions will be all over you in a couple minutes when you stop.
Fish the heavy string and horse those yellows in quick or they will be Mammal food.
Private boaters need to have an FMM, a Fishing Permit, and a Photo ID for everyone on board.
They may or may not require a passport. If you have one BRING IT. If you don't GET ONE!
They are also asking for your FCC License and Operators License for your VHF Radio and for your boat's current Registration.
