San Pedro Bait Co Fish Update

Good afternoon folks,

Bait fishing for larger size hook bait has been tuff lately to say the least! With no lack of effort, the Bounty brought in a beautiful load of six inch sardines to the San Pedro barge this morning. There is also mixed size anchovies. Great chum with some hook bait mixed in. If all goes well, we will be able to get a load for Newport in the near future.

Regardless of what type of trip you are going on these days, I highly recommend taking the lighter tackle, smaller hooks, and light pinch on sinkers or small rubber cores in case you're not able to get larger bait. The majority of fish being caught these days are perfectly catchable on fifteen to twenty pound line and it increases your odds on getting a bite on the smaller bait.....as well a better fight and challenge. One more little tip that will give you an advantage when limited to small bait......we have been using the Shimano Sniper jig with great success. It has the weight to throw it far, fish on the slide or straight up in down for all the local species that are biting lately.

Take advantage of the great local fishing we're having this season and good luck.....hopefully this lasts for a while!!
