Pardee Reservoir Fish Report

7-18-2014
Fred Dorman

Forecast is predicting temperatures in the mid to high 80's and low 90's for the weekend and throughout next week. Look for some clouds and thunderstorms at higher elevations. Pardee Lake water level is presently at 89% capacity (within 8 foot of spill) with ALL launch ramp facilities and Park services available.

Not a single angler on the banks in the recreation Area this morning and the Marina reports it's been that way most of the week. The bright spot has been the Woodpile once again this report, fishing has been decent there last week. Power Bait, chartreuse with sparkles, eggs with garlic, orange and pink mouse tails along with night crawlers on a sliding sinker or a half full water bubble all continue to be effective combos thus far for Trout.

Trolling continues to be good in the coves upriver. Mixed limits of Trout and Kokanee are still being caught in these areas. Lots of limits in the area but boaters working harder and longer to get them. Twin Coves, Columbia and Deer Island have been active with the larger Kokanee congregating there. Trolling been a bit slower in main body of the Lake, saw no one working that area this morning, looks like everyone headed directly upriver. Fish have remained at the same depths as last report, 60 to 90 foot levels seeking cooler surroundings. Some boaters have also done well tying off in upstream coves and bait fishing for Trout. Trollers are using Hoochies, (green and pink) along with the standard beaded spinners, Uncle Larry's pinkies and white/pink hoochies, all behind medium size silver and gold dodgers. Apex and Sling Blades are getting the nod as well for Kokes. Those Trout caught lately have been partial to needle fish, primarily reds and tiger patterns.

Bass fishermen have been doing well lately in the coves and rocky points all along the eastern banks and upstream. Plastic worms swim baits and large night crawlers all working well.

The warming trends have brought out some nice catfish, check the coves from Mel's all the way down to Rattlesnake. Power bait, night crawlers and Vienna sausage are all popular with our whiskered friends.

Current success stories: Cadence Lentz (along with her assistant) of Volcano got this great limit of Rainbows bait fishing in the South end using chartreuse and white power eggs. Well done-Congratulations!

Lake Level is currently at 89% of capacity and holding. Water temperature is currently 66 degrees at 20 feet and 68 at the surface; clarity is good to 15 feet plus.

Lake Pardee Recreation has planted a total of 22,000 pounds of fish for the season so far.
