The fish didn't come in like gangbusters, but one by one they kept adding up until we ended the day with a dang good shallow water score. We were just a couple handfuls of rockfish shy of 10 fish per person limits which included 11 cabezon to 7 pounds, plus they picked up 16 lingcod to 17 pounds as well as another bonus halibut, a 12 pound beauty. One of the things we like best about shallow water light tackle rockfishing is the variety of fish. Bob often uses the Forrest Gump line: "It's like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get." Every day is just a little different. One day it's lings, the next it's cabezon, there's a sprinkling of halibut, and then we have the array of rockfish I like to call the shallow water smorgasbord. Use light gear, just a few ounces of weight, and now not only is the fishing productive, it's just downright fun. And that's what we like, having fun fishing. And that's what we like folks to experience with us and why we'd done this onboard the Queen of Hearts that last 17 years. So, wanna join in on the fun? Just come on down and check in between 5:30 to no later than 6:15 at our shop, Half Moon Bay Sportfishing (look for the BIG yellow "TICKET OFFICE" sign). We're still running 7 days a week, but our weekends are getting pretty booked until the middle of September. We do have room on the Labor Day weekend Saturday, September 1, and we have now confirmed that we'll continue running afternoon rockfishing every Saturday afternoon in September.
