And the Lake continues to rise - we're a bit higher than we were last year, but as we know it won't last thru the summer, but we are very thankful for what we have as were those who took boats out for the day. A bit windy this week and Saturday morning felt like Fall, we woke to temps in the 30??s. Had a few thunderbooms and rain on Tuesday, followed by sprinkles on Wednesday - you never know in the mountains. Papa's Day dawned dead calm and not a cloud in the sky got a bit wind in the afternoon - but there were plenty of Dad's making memories out on the Lake!


Catching was just down-right awesome this week. Rick & I even fished a bit back at the DingleBerry Inlet using NightCrawlers - oh, what fun we had. But it wasn't just NightCrawlers working at the Inlet, just about anything and everything was once again landing stringers of fish. Brody Castillo (5 years old) of Bishop made his PaPa a proud man catching a nice 3-1/4 pounder on PowerBait. Trolling, you ask, try using Flies, Lures, or NightCrawlers. And enjoy the quiet of the day, drifting the channels using NightCrawlers. Shore fishing, you got this, NightCrawlers, Salmon Eggs, or PowerBait. Thanks to the DFG for the stocking on Monday and thanks again for the trophy-size fish.


Spring is definitely in the Sierras - the wildflowers are starting to bloom. With the return of the yellow butterflies last week, we knew the white lilacs were ready to bloom and bloom they did - the trail to the launch ramp smells splendid. The White Bark Fir tree is candling - brilliant lime green new growth absolutely stunning. And the LodgePole (also in the back yard) has baby pinecones on it. And we've got Chives with their purple flowers. And don't forget the pretty yellow flowers (don't have a clue as to what they are) - give it a few more weeks and we'll have a rainbow yard with so many different colors.


If your 4th of July plans included Bishop - the Bishop Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Firework Show will begin at 9pm just after dark at the Bishop Airport. Gates open at 4pm. $20 per car load. Food and Beverage Venders will be on site. For more information on this event Please call (760) 873-5485. Donations can be made to the Bishop Volunteer Fire Dept and would be greatly appreciated!


And Saturday, July 5th is FREE FISHING DAY! Don't need a license on that day to fish, but you do need to abide by all the fishing regulations. If you're not sure what they are, come on in and ask!


Still no sign of bears up at Lake Sabrina yet - but are around - on both sides of the canyon, so where ever you are please keep your food and trash picked-up or they may visit you next.


Temps are expected to be in the mid to high 60??s and in the 30??s with some wind due in on Monday & Tuesday. Not sure what happened to the skeeters (maybe they got blown away), but we don't have that many right now, but - DON'T FORGET THE BUG JUICE and the sunscreen, ponchos and dark polarized glasses - the glare off the water is tough on the eyes. And if you have allergies - PACK YOU MEDS - it's tough breathing out there for some - what with runny noses, stuffed noses & watery eyes - believe us - we know!


One other important item - bug juice, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, cologne, perfume, or any other foo-foo juice is like a fish repellent - if you use any of these items you're basically using fish repellant - you'll need to wash your hands, then apply Bite-On fish attractant or rub your hands in worm dirt or pour some Salmon Egg juice on your hands - anything to get the foo-foo stink off your hands.


We've gone to our summer hours, but alas, the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Café will only serve Breakfast from 7:00am to 11:00am and Lunch until 4:00pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
