Day's End Report: Mixed Bag
6-5-2014
Mike Thompson
TODAY'S COUNT: 3 boats & 82 anglers.. 4 YELLOWTAIL, 3 HALIBUT, 37 WHITE SEABASS, 100 ROCKFISH, 12 SCULPIN & 2 WHITEFISH.
Everyone is search of the White Seabass again today.. Pacific Dawn got it done at Santa Rosa Island on it's overnight trip, catching limits of seabass. Island Spirit and Pacific Eagle had a tougher go of it today catching only a hand full of seabass and yellowtail for today's efforts.. but still a nice day on the water. Good weather and lots of fish in the area. Today they just didnt want to cooperate at the local islands. Tomorrow is another day, and in true form these fish will bounce back and chew the paint of the bottoms of our boats anytime!
Awesome fishing to start the week. As predicted the white seabass turned back on at the islands. Fortunatly the fish are spread out, giving everyone a chance at a prized channel islands gamefish!
We are making squid on the water to use for bait, so bring squid catchers and a medium rod and reel setup with 30lb line, 5/0 hooks and 6oz to 16oz sinkers. All fish so far have been taken on the dropper loop, with the exception of a hand full on white jigs.
We have trips going out every day looking for white seabass and the other gamefish mixed in with them ie yellowtail, barracuda and halibut. Be sure to call and reserve before you come down.
