Way Too Light

Skipper Brian Sims docked Qualifier 105 at Point Loma Sportfishing August 28 after a four-day trip that visited Guadalupe Island.

"It was great, it really was," said Bill Wiest of Brawley who was fishing with his son, Eddie Wiest. "They have such an outstanding crew, we're already booked for next year's trip."

Craig Struikmans of Ontario, CA won first place for a 93-pound yellowfin tuna. Craig fished a sardine on a 4/0 Super Mutu ringed hook, 40-pound fluorocarbon, an Accurate 870 Boss Magnum reel and an unknown rod "?Ķthat was way too light!"

"It was our first fish caught," said Craig. "My previous best was 30-pounds."

Chuck Constable of Brawley was second for an 81-pound tuna. Chuck's 13-year old grandson Tyler stood in for him in the jackpot lineup photo. Third place went to Mike McKinley of Brawley, for a 74.6-pound tuna.
