For an easy way to get your children into fishing, pick up one of these cheap licenses and take them out to one of the Urban Fishing Program lakes (to be renamed Community Fishing Program waters, also on Jan. 1.) The CFP waters will be expanding, so if you live in an urbanized area, there likely will be a CFP lake or pond near you.
