1 - First Day of Commercial Dungeness Crab Season north of Mendocino County.

3 - State Wildlife Action Plan Public Scoping Meeting, 1 to 4 p.m., Rancho Cordova Library, Rancho Cordova Meeting Room, 9845 Folsom Blvd., Rancho Cordova (95827). For more information, please visit www.dfg.ca.gov/swap/.

5 - San Diego Area Contingency Plan (ACP) Meeting, 10 to 11:30 a.m., San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex, 1080 Gunpowder Point Drive, Chula Vista (91910). CDFW is co-hosting the meeting with the U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego. Public entrance into the refuge facility is made by parking in the main public lot and taking a free tram into the National Wildlife Refuge Complex. A tram leaves the lot every 15 minutes. 29 - Bear Season Closure in All Five State Bear Hunt Areas (Northern California, Central California, Southern Sierra, Southern California and Southeastern Sierra) unless CDFW determines that the 1,700 bear limit has been reached at an earlier date. 31 - Last Day of Recreational Boat-based Groundfish Season, Pt. Arena to CA-Mexico border.

Elkhorn Slough Ecological Reserve. Docent-led walks are scheduled every Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Binoculars and bird books are available for the public to borrow at no cost. The visitor center and main overlook are fully accessible. Day use fee is $4.32 per person, age 16 and older. Groups of 10 or more should schedule a separate tour.
