GENERAL CONDITIONS
Trout fishing is amazing right now!!!!! Our last plant was on November 25th of 500 lbs. from Mt. Lassen. We are also expecting another trout plant sometime this week of another 500 lbs. Last week over 5 whoppers were caught here at Lake Chabot including an 8lbs. rainbow trout. Limits are getting pulled out daily with a lot of success from anglers trolling Kastmasters and even Powerbait. Trout are getting pulled out trolling from the surface down to 15 feet. Firetiger lures and Kastmasters have been working exceptionally well the past couple weeks. Bass and Catfishing remains the same with fishing being slow. If you are going out on a boat, some hot spots are around the island, half moon bay, back by bass cove and over near raccoon point. The water temperature is cooling off with the lower temps at night, and trout activity is picking up. Catfish activity is decreasing right now as we are seeing less and less catches being made with cooling waters. We are expecting some rain this week but it should mess with the water clarity until we get a heavy storm.

When you bring in your big fish, we will take your picture and give you a "Lake Chabot Whopper Club" button. If you catch a whopper over 5 lbs (trout), 8 lbs (catfish) or 3 lbs (bass) you will receive a whopper club pin. For beginning anglers, if you have any questions on what to use, please come down to the Marina and one of our knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to help you get set up for your fishing adventure.

All of our boats are half off Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays! Our schedule for the marina has changed, we are currently open Monday through Sunday at 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM boat rentals will stop at 3:30 PM and are due back at 4:30 PM.

We've got some new apparel here at Lake Chabot! We just got a new shipment in of shirts and a new variation on one of our sweatshirts. Our original pink and orange sweatshirts now come in grey! CATFISH
Catfishing is slowing down a little as we get a little closer to winter, but still catfish several reported getting caught this past week. Catfishing will continue to slow down as the water temperatures cools down. Several weeks ago more than a few nice size catfish were reported caught on the first and second dock. Our last catfish plant was on September 3, 2013 with 780 lbs from Mt. Lassen. Water temperature will determine how active catfishing will be. The warmer the water the more active they will be, especially at night. Typically around this time of the year, catfish are going to be located by Raccoon point, behind the island, back by the dam and bass cove during the day. Anglers are using mackerel, anchovies and chicken liver for bait.

TROUT
Trout fishing is amazing!!!! Top water trolling is causing anglers to limit out on trout fishing early to mid morning this past week. The algae problem is slowly going away so fishing is getting better every day. Last week on November 25th we had a trout plant of 500 lbs. We are also expecting another plant of 500lbs this upcoming week. This past few days over 5 whoppers were caught, mostly trolling. The biggest fish caught this past week was an 8 lbs. trout from an unknown angler. Fishing continues to be amazing with all this nice weather we been having. Hotspots continue to be near the West Shore Trail, Dam, Half Moon Bay area and Raccoon Point. For now, make sure to use bait that is bright to lure the fish in. If you are going to be trolling, the best lures to use are Firetiger Rapalas, Kastmasters and Mirashads. The bait to use right now is chartreuse and rainbow Powerbait with Garlic sent. When trolling, make sure to let out about a hundred feet of line and let the motor do all the work but also be wary of other anglers on the shoreline so your lines don't get caught!

BASS
Bass fishing has slowed down over the past couple of weeks! Bass are currently suspended about 15-20 feet deep. If you are fishing for bass, they are hitting mostly in the early mornings and evenings mostly on plastics, jigs and hula grubs. Silver Rainbow Flukes are also doing really well with 3/0 wide shank hook. Several reports of bass anglers using swimbaits are getting a lot of follows but can't seem to pull them out of Half Moon Bay. Livewells can be provided upon request thanks to Walton's Pond. A couple good spots to fish for bass are; near the island or the tulles by Raccoon Point. Please practice catch and release for bass, as they are not stocked into the lake and their population depends on you!

WHOPPERS
William Shaw of Oakland caught a nice 5.8 lbs. trout on the 2nd dock fishing on the west shore trail.
Justin Wong of Hayward caught a 7.0 lbs. trout on powerbait over by Coots Landing.
Kenny Cruz of San Lorenzo caught a 5.62 lbs. trout using corn fishing over off the first dock.
Josh Fields of San Leandro caught a 5.47 lbs. trout using garlic Powerbait fishing over by the first dock.
Jeff Vandeven of Hayward caught a 6.72 lbs. trout fishing at an unknown location.
David Rodriquez of San Leandro caught a 7.38 lbs. trout using Powerbait at an unknown location.
Chris Peoples of San Lorenzo caught two nice trout 5.81 and a 6.00 lbs. trout trolling at an unknown location.
Ron Simpson of Castro Valley caught a nice 6.25 trout using Powerbait fishing at an unknown location
