Report from Lake Morena - Rainbow have not shown up, Bass are active though
11-17-2013
Lake Morena Staff
Lake Conditions: Surface temperature is 63.5 Fahrenheit. The water visibility is clearing to about 2 to 4 ft.
** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in the Lake Morena area so be sure you acquire one before you arrive. The State Licenses is required.
Trout: Over the past week no rainbow showed up. The D.F.W. has stocked the beginning of each week for the past three weeks. All fish stocked are in the 1 or 2 lb. class so no trophies stocked yet but should only be a matter of time till these fish start to bite and give us some action.
Bass: We are still getting reports of Bass showing up. Although no large numbers of fish were seen there was still one reported in the 10lb. class and also one in the 6lb. range. With the D.F.W. trout plants it might be a good time to come up and through the swim bait around. Other than that large jigs, large worms, and crank baits have been producing well.
Catfish; The Catfish have also slowed but not to a complete stop. They seem to really be favoring mackerel over night crawlers and chicken liver. The majority of the fish are still coming from paradise cove and the north end of the lake around the big rocks.
Blue Gill: No 'gills' reported this week
Crappie: The Crappie have been no shows.
Carp: The carp are around again. The early morning top water schooling has come back this week. No reports from any Carp fishermen this week but if Carp is your target it should not be a problem for you to find some out there to enjoy.
