PACIFIC QUEEN 1 1/2 SFR WRAP UP
10-23-2013
Don Padick
Captain Drew Card and the Pacific Queen returned from their most recent trip with 90 bluefin tuna and 170 yellowtail hitting the decks, raising their year to date total to over 2000 Bluefin for the season. The Queen is one of only 5 boats in the fleet to reach the 2000 Bluefin landed plateau for this season. Our most recent SFR 1 ?? day trip didn't find any Bluefin but did find wide open yellowtail fishing on the kelp paddies and a smattering of yellow fin and skipjack tuna to make for a really fun day on the water. The weather was great, the sardines lively and a great group of anglers on board made for a fantastic trip. One kelp paddy we came across was so loaded with yellowtail that we filled the kill box in one stop before graciously turning it over to another boat so they could get their fill as well. Captain Drew searched hard for the tuna and we were rewarded with a number of yellowfin and skipjack tuna. Sara Reitz showed the boys how it was done by hooking and reeling in the jackpot yellowfin tuna on a lively sardine. Way to go Sara!! The fish are still biting and you still have a chance to jump on the Pacific Queen before it switches gears and starts it winter half day schedule. The Queen has three remaining 1 ?? day trips on the schedule for offshore fishing departing this Friday 10/25, Sunday 10/27 and Tuesday 10/29 night at 9 pm. Call the landing at 1-619-221-8500 or check their website at www.fishermanslanding.com or the Pacific Queen website at www.pacific-queen.com. To get on one of the final offshore trips of the season. You want to stuff you're freezer with Yellowtail and tuna now while you still have the chance, the rockfish will still be there.
