Fish Report for 10-19-2013
Spirit Lake was recently treated as part of the Colorado River Cutthroat Trout restoration project
10-19-2013
Utah Division of Wildlife
SPIRIT LAKE: (October 18) The lake was treated on Sept. 17-18, along with Tamarak, Jessen and several other small lakes and their connecting streams. All fish species were removed as part of a Colorado River cutthroat trout restoration project. In late fall or next spring, the lakes and streams will be restocked with Colorado River cutthroats, the only trout native to the area. Tiger trout, a sterile hybrid, will also be stocked to help jump start the fisheries in the area. The success of this treatment is a critical part of a management strategy to keep Colorado River cutthroat trout off the endangered species list.
