"We departed the dock on the 23rd on the annual Ken Bush charter," posted Intrepid September 25. We loaded bait and then kicked up this beautiful girl to full cruise, intending to fish at daylight on the 24th. We had very good action on mixed grade yellowfin, yellowtail, and Dorado. Some of the tuna was of the undesirable grade. So we decided to push further south and by midafternoon we were in the place we wanted to be.
We found a nice kelp and kept busy for the remainder of the day. We spent the night in the area and got off to a very good start. After driving around for the first couple of hours of the afternoon we found the mother lode. We turned what was a pretty good day already into an epic day! These guys were waiting for us and we kept the boat bent till dark. It was hot and heavy action on beautiful grade yellowfin. They were hitting the kite as fast as we could get it out. They also bit the iron, and of course sardines and mackerel."
