Intrepid Back On Line Our sincere apologies go out to everyone who was negatively impacted by the cancellation of our 11 day International Cow Club November 26th thru December 7th trip due to a catastrophic failure in the electronic "Brain" of the steering system. The timing of this occurrence could not have happened within a worst time frame. The parts and technicians who maintain and provide support for these systems were not available to get us back on line due to the long Holiday weekend. In this day and age of advanced technology I have come to the conclusion it doesn't always work in our favor as it takes special diagnostic equipment to determine and troubleshoot the problems. The problems have been corrected and this week we will be installing a 3rd redundant steering system to assure that if the "Brain" was to quit working we could still maintain full control and operate the vessel in a normal fashion. It would have been negligent on my behalf to allow the vessel to leave the dock and subject the passengers and crew to a potential dangerous situation, while thoroughly understanding the negative ramifications caused by canceling a trip. It was my call. Informing this group of anglers of this news and seeing the disappointment in all of your eyes about made me puke. There was absolutely nothing I could do. We were able to move some of the group onto other vessels; our thanks go out to them along with the bait receiver for shuttling them to their respective vessels.
