Hi Fellow Anglers; As this trip's charter master I would like to add my last impressions and perspective of our trip. The quality and abundance of the fish we encountered and caught in the Clarion Buffer Zone was spectacular and having the extra days of a 13 day trip was especially good to go the distance and even have time to explore other waters for giant tuna after loading up with a phenomenal mix of 60 to 225# tuna and 35 to 50# Wahoo. Most of the tuna were between 110 to 140 pounds and were extremely cooperative during our fishing adventure. Although the fishing was great and we return to San Diego with sore muscles and great stories of wins and losses, it is the myriad of other facets of fishing which make the most fond and lasting memories. The Intrepid has assembled a world class crew of professional, highly focused and motivated and extremely high service oriented crew members. The service and hospitality is a culture evident from the top down. Owner, Captains and every crew member spares no energy or effort to make every part of the trip and experience the very best they can. And Chef's Javier and Hector Quintanar treat us every day with culinary delights most 5-Star restaurants would be proud of and advised to copy. A huge congratulations and thank you to all crew members for all your help, advice, professionalism and courteous service during the trip. Thirteen days on even a spacious, comfortable boat like the Intrepid can sometimes seem like a small environment if the crew and passengers don't all mix and gel well. Although it's always nice to be going home to family the comments from every crew member and angler indicate the camaraderie, friendliness and mutual respect among all participants of this charter is unprecedented. We all had a blast, we all cheered one another on every hook up, the very few tangles and cut offs were total non issues and all of us would be pleased to fish again together on a regular basis I want to also acknowledge and thank all of our generous sponsors for their support and donations to our raffle prizes. Our raffles are unique because we use the prizes to raise money to support various youth fishing programs to groom future anglers for the west coast sport fishing industry hoping they buy tickets on sport fishing boats and tackle and gear from all of our sponsors' businesses. Please support these generous sponsors when you are making your Christmas lists and doing your Christmas shopping: Avet Reels, AFTCO, Chuck Byron Arts, Owner Hooks, Izorline, Sportfishing Magazine, High Tide Jigs, Holy Mackerel Jigs, Baja Fish Gear, Big Hammer Swimbaits, Shimano, Booyaa, AA Plastics, Body Glove Wetsuits, and Western Outdoor News. We generated $910 in our raffle, bringing the total funds raised for youth fishing to just over $6,000 for 2010. All of these funds will be distributed to Marina Del Rey Anglers Youth Fishing, Chuck Byron Art of Fishing Program, Friends of Rollo Youth Fishing and the San Diego Sportfishing Council Youth Fishing Program. Thanks to all of our generous sponsors, all anglers who contributed to the raffles and all of the amazing volunteers working with each of these youth fishing programs who take thousands of worthy kids fishing every year. In summary, this may have been one of the very best fishing trips I have ever experienced - great fishing on great quality tuna and wahoo. A great crew on a great boat. Fantastic weather. Incredible food. And most importantly the best group of anglers and crew members combined for non stop fun and laughter. Soon we will be enjoying our "last supper," a fantastic prime steak and huge lobster, followed by a last raffle and slide show of all the photos we took, possibly an hour or so of final fish stories and a restful sleep dreaming of being reunited with loving family and reunited next year for another great fishing trip. Thanks for following our trip. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All. Charter Master Larry Brown and Team Intrepid. Here are a few more pics.....ETA 0600 Monday. "The Intrepid Team"
