Without question the best fishing of the year! That's right without question this has been the absolute best fishing we have seen for our guide clients during the 2013 season. It all started on September 10 when we began to get reports of a large volume of shad floating in shallow water at Castaic Lake and Castaic California. We have been going out in the morning and scooping live shad and using it for bait with absolutely unbelievable results. Many of the guide clients have been able to go out and catch 30 to 35 bass apiece on a full day fishing trip. People are able to go out and fish just a half a day and catch 10 or 12 bass almost every single day. Many of these bass are up to 6 and 7 pounds. Our biggest fish of the week this week was 7 pounds and it was taken on live shad fished with 6 pound test line. We are nose hooking the live shad and flylining it on a spinning rod and the fishing is just been fantastic. For those anglers who like to use topwater baits there is some topwater fishing every morning. There are small schools of fish chasing these threadfin shad in shallow water in isolated areas throughout the Lake.

I will have all of your rods reels and tackle ready when you arrive in the morning. There will be bottled water and packaged snacks on board each and every fishing trip at no extra charge.
