Barnett Family Charter

Skipper Joe Crisci returned Qualifier 105 after a five-day trip to Point Loma Sportfishing July 31. Chuck Barnett, of Barnett Family Charter, said they had the "best weather we've ever had, with plenty of fish caught."
It was the Barnett's 14th year chartering the trip.
"Cedros has been biting full-speed for two months now," said Skipper Crisci. "We knew it wasn't going to last forever. But we had such great weather, it made it easy looking for paddies."
Long range regular Jim Ruch, of Ojai, echoed Skipper Crisci.
"Cedros was dead, just dead. There wasn't a bird in sight. Brook (Landavazo) just about sucked his eyeballs out looking for life up in the nest."
"It's true," continued Crisci. "Brook's binoculars somehow caused one of his contacts to fall out."
AC Barnett, of Ojai took first place for a 31-pound yellowtail. AC fished a sardine on a 1/0 circle hook, 30-pound Maxima line, a Shimano 30 reel, and a Calstar rod.
Rudy Vantine, of Santa Barbara was second with a 29.6-pound yellow. Rudy fly-lined a "big bait, big fish" mackerel on a 3/0 Red Penn bait hook, 40-pound Berkely Big Game line, a Trinidad 40 reel and a Calstar rod.
Ruch finished out the jackpot with a 28.6-pound yellowtail caught with 20-pound P-Line, an Avet SX reel, and a custom-made rod.
