The Carolina rig is producing for Catfish at Hesperia Lake
9-6-2013
Hesperia Lake Staff
The Catfish bite continues at Hesperia Lake. Best action has been on a Carolina rig with garlic crawlers, shrimp and mackerel. Action has been good all around the lake with the larger fish coming from the catfish point, the finger and the shallows around the south island. The 10 plus pounders have been on a tear this week. Lots of limit style fishing with stringers around 12 pounds and more. Edward Lua from Corona had a 12 pounder caught with mackerel from the north shore. Richard Sturgis from San Bernardino hooked up with a 10.5 cat by the drain, David BaraJas got his 10 pound cat from the grassy bank and Dave Davilla hooked into an 8.5 pounder from the grassy bank as well.
1,000 pounds of fish on Monday next week and large fish still prowl the depths. The lake is open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the day session and 1:00 to 10:00 p.m. for the night fishing. No state fishing license is required here. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.
