The top water bite has picked up on Clear Lake

August was a busy month for my guide business. We are now entering into the months that will bring several year end tournaments to the lake with a big one hitting the lake this weekend, 9/7 & 9/8, it could draw 70 to 100 boats. October will feature a big tournament almost every weekend with the Triton boat owners tournament, then the FLW circuit hits, then the American Bass year end TOC which will feature at least a 150 boats. The topwater bite has picked up with baits such as River to Sea's "Whopper Popper" the Rico poppers, Buzz Baits, Artificial Frogs, and Zara Spooks all putting fish in the boat if you stay with them. With the silver side minnows now in "Mass" all around the lake, the Spinner bait has also been working very well. The normal drop shot worms and shakey head jigs rigged with Zoom trick worms are also working.

The lake level continues to drop, it currently is at 1.97ft over the Rumsey scale that it is measured by. This means you should be careful running your boat very close to shore, swing way out around the points and don't attempt to get on plane with your boat until you have idled out to deeper water. That's it for now, feel free to email me at anytime for any detailed info you may need and also feel free to email me with any fishing reports/results you may have had with your last outing here. I can always use a report.

God Bless,
Bob

There is topwater action first thing in the morning with rico style poppers, buzzbaits, spooks, etc. Frog action is picking up...... Read More
