What were the fishing conditions at Rancho Leonero this week?

"Water- 84-87. Clear, clean. Afternoon breezes. Air- Rain Friday and Saturday. Nice cooling, afternoon South Easterly winds.

"The rain Friday and Saturday really cooled things off! In spite of the weather we fished every day. Still lots of Squid throughout the bay. All the Calamari is helping keep the fish around. A double-edged sword; the game fish can be full and line-shy. Early in the week the Dorado fishing was wide open, the bite has slowed as the week progressed. Striped Marlin and Sails are abundant with all anglers targeting billfish, releasing at least one. One or two Blue Marlin are being released by the hotel fleet daily. A few Yellowfin coming in, a long boat ride with mixed results this week.

"Big Amberjack to 60 pounds are being taken daily off the La Ribera bank. Chunks of Squid dropped to the bottom are really working, in 150 to 400 feet of water. Inside the Gallos are abundant, lots of 25 to 40-pound Roosters, especially around the lighthouse. Very light pressure, as most anglers fishing outside."
