Fish Report for 8-18-2013
Ventura Sportfishing - This weeks schedule and fishing forecast.
8-18-2013
Mike Thompson
Overcast and foggy weather all week long looks to continue, fortunately keeping the ocean calm. Fishing is still steady on nice rockfish on all the boats, but signs of free swimmers like barracuda, white seabass and sand bass on the rise. Island fishing has produced a few seabass and fair rockfishing, but coastal fishing seems to be a little better right now. The bait is stacked up in the shallows along the Ventura coast with fish on them. This week we will continue exploring the islands and coastline for some variety in the fish counts.
Island Spirit is online every day this week running limited load 3/4 day trips targeting a variety of species. Sunday the "spirit" has a rare open trip departing at 6AM.
Pacific Eagle is also online every day this week running full day trips. They will be putting in the first couple of the day looking for white seabass and then depending on the bite may move on to bottom fishing. The "eagle" departs at 4AM and limit's the load to 24 anglers. Saturday is the only open weekend day this week aboard the eagle.
