Justin Fleck checked in from the Excel with this report. "We had a good day yesterday at the local Bluefin grounds, 50 to 60 miles from home. We had a drift right out of the gate for 80 of those fish. Most of the fish were 35 to 50 lbs., a couple 65 and 70's mixed in. To top it off at the end we hooked a big one that we fought for 2 hours. with a 40 lb. test we ended up getting it, it was a 184 lbs Bluefin caught at 50 miles.

We went back and got another 40 so we ended up with about 120 Bluefin yesterday. The weather was a lot nicer than we expected. We see a very good sign of fish on the local grounds we expect it to be good for awhile. And the grade of fish is phenomenal for being that close.

We are back at Fisherman's Landing this morning. We will be leaving in an hour or so on our Tuna Wars 8 Day trip. We will try to get down to the Ridge or Alijos Rocks. However everyone is excited about the signs of fish that is around now. We'll check in again tomorrow."

The fish ranged in size from the little guys to the bigger guys and a couple of Dorado...... Read More

Justin Fleck called in from the Excel with this update. "We finished up our Sogioka/Stires 7 Day Trip by fishing along the beach. We had some excellent fishing on shallow water Rockfish, Bass, some Halibut. It was just good to get everybody out at the rail yank'n and crank'n. Yesterday we looked offshore. We covered all of the same territory where we were catching that Yellowfin tuna last week and the week before that. It seems like that fish has...... Read More
