Oregon Sport Halibut Update

The Pacific Fisheries Management Council's South of Humbug Mountain Subarea Policy Group will be having a meeting on Tuesday, July 30 beginning at 10 am. The Policy group will be discussing the analysis of potential management measures for the South of Humbug Mountain Subarea, and how to proceed for 2014. For those who cannot attend in person, the meeting is available via webinar. Additionally, a listening station will be available at the Best Western Beach Front Inn conference room in Brookings. Harvest update through July 14:
Columbia River Subarea:
There has been 4,725 pounds landed. This leaves 4,791 pounds (50%) of the spring quota remaining. Any quota remaining from the spring fishery will be rolled into the summer fishery. The spring and summer fisheries are both open every Friday-Sunday. Average weight so far this season is 15 pounds.
Central Oregon Coast Subarea:
Summer All-Depth Season--the summer all-depth fishery will open August 2. That fishery is scheduled to be open every other Friday and Saturday until the quota is attained.
Nearshore Season: landings from the nearshore through July 14 are ????????19,616 lbs., leaving 3,422 lbs. or 15% of the nearshore quota remaining. The average weight from the nearshore fishery, so far this season has been 15 lbs.
South of Humbug Mountain subarea: This fishery opened May 1, seven days per week.
