Dreamer Trip Returns
7-14-2006
Bill Roecker
Chris Clements was chartermaster on the Baja Dreamer Tackle charter aboard the Shogun that returned to Fisherman's Landing July 14 after five days at sea.
"We found excellent yellowtail fishing at Cedros," said skipper Norm Kagawa, "mostly at the surface. Bait and surface irons were best, but we also had fish on the yoyo jigs. We got some yellowfin tuna going down and coming back up."
Mike Hautz of San Bernadino won first place for a 54.6-pound yellowfin. He got it in 20 minutes, after being nearly spooled, he said. He fished a sardine on a 3/0 Mustad hook, with Maxima green 40-pound line on a Penn 555 reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470 rod.
Gene Brodenck of Sebastapol was second, for a 45.2-pound yellowfin, and Bob Minoue of Vacaville won third place, for a 40.2-pound tuna.
