Fish Report for 6-28-2013
This heat wave will definitely affect fishing at Pardee as the fish are moving lower & not biting

Be prepared for sizzling temperatures this weekend and continuing through the first half of next week.
Quiet along the shore again this morning in the Recreation Area, there were a few anglers in the shade along the shore opposite the launch ramp. During the week most worked the banks opposite the EBMUD boathouse and also Rainbow and Blue Herron Points. The anglers working the banks are using Power Bait (eggs or worms) with garlic and glitter. Pistol Pete's and Mouse (mice) Tails, in addition pink Power Worms and night crawlers on a water bobber have been successful lately.
Trollers are still detecting lots of fish near the Dam Face and along the barrel line in the South End but they have gone deep and are not biting much. Others have moved upriver near Indian Rock and have done well at 65'. The lures and equipment are still the same but depths have changed. Kokanee continue to be caught in this vicinity, most if not all in the 10 to13 inch range. Not too much info this report on Trout, sounds like they are moving about the Lake looking for a cooler strata to hang in. Both species have been congregating at the 35 to 65 foot level due to the hot surface temperatures of late. Uncle Larry's copper pops and pinkie along with wedding rings, apex and sling blades behind silver/gold or watermelon dodgers. Check at the Marina for all your fishing supplies, snacks, updated fishing information and hot spots.
Recent success stories: Joe Frates of Valley Springs got these nice Kokanee near Indian Rock way upriver using a corn tipped wedding ring in 65' of water. Don Roberts of Roseville bagged this nice trout using power bait at Belchers Cove.
Look for catfish in the River arm and the southern coves, sounds like they have begun to move into the coves that are warming up from Mel's cove to Rattlesnake. Chicken livers Power Bait and night crawlers are the baits of choice.
Water level has risen to 2 to 4 feet from spillway and is holding steady. Water temperature is 64 degrees at 20 feet and 68 degrees at surface as measured in the Marina. Water clarity is good to 17' plus in the Marina.
Pardee Lake Recreation has planted a total of 23,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout as of this report. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has also planted 2,000 lbs. of Trout to date for a grand total of 25,000 lbs.
