It's hard to believe we're already nearing the end of May! Time is flying and the rivers are running high! With the poor snow pack we've experienced this year all of this dreary weather has been a blessing in disguise. The storms have been depositing snow up high in the mountains and have been keeping temperatures low at night which have helped to steady our river flows.
Don't let high water deter you. Fishing run off makes locating fish easy. Look for them to be holding tight to the banks, behind rocks and logs, and deep in the back eddies. Throwing big, bright, flashy streamers can produce some great takes from fish that are no longer worried about other predators because of the cover that the dirty water provides. If you plan on nymph fishing at this time of year use heavily weighted rubber leg variations trailed by a San Juan Worm or Wire Worm.
We have a ton of things going on at Troutfitters over the next month! Our Spring Nymphing Clinic will be held on private water at Willow Creek on June 1st! The Runoff Sale will be on June 6th through the 9th and will feature great savings on a variety of gear. June 13th will mark the 7th year of our annual Troutfitters BBQ! We have a great turnout every year and this year we will have even more prizes to give away than last year!
If you're getting bored with fishing the local tailwaters while waiting for runoff to subside, check out a Guided Trip on one of the areas Spring Creeks! Our Guides have tons of experience fishing these waters and can show you the "secrets" to catching fish on these technical pieces of water.
This month we've got a little Product Review on the Loop Booster - Johnny Macs new favorite streamer stick, and a Product Review on TroutHunter Tippet & Leaders by James.
If you haven't hooked up with us yet on Facebook and Twitter come and see what you've been missing with fun fishing report updates, chatter and fishing banter, contests and more!
See you on the water,
