A three-day trip for albacore aboard the Vagabond ended July 18 when skipper Mike Lackey docked his rig at Pt. Loma Sportfishing. There were 25 anglers aboard.

Ron Rodarte of Westminster won first place. He put out a sardine on a 2/0 Mustad Sheepshead hook, he said, and a 29.8-pound longfin snapped it up. He fished with 30-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader, 30-pound Spectra on a Saltiga 30 reel and a Truline VGB-6 rod.

Charles Lake of Newport Beach was second for a 29.6-pounder, and David Haner of Long Beach won third place, for a 28.8-pound albacore.
