Norm Kagawa docked his Shogun at Fisherman's Landing June 23 following a five-day trip with 22 anglers.
"We fished the open water for three days," said Norm, "and we spent a day at Cedros Island fishing for yellowtail."
Dave Brewer of Huntington Beach won first place for a 48-pound yellowfin tuna, a fish he tricked with a sardine on a 5/0 Eagle Claw hook. He said he fished with 40-pound Big Game line, a Newell 440 reel and a Calstar 700 ML rod.
Marco Bautista of Reseda was second, for a 47.6-pounder, and Kyle Walker of LA won third place for a 47-pound yellowfin tuna. Jim Caballero of Fullerton stood in with the winners, holding his 24.5-pound Cedros Island halibut.
