Trout and Bass are both on the bite at Lafayette Reservoir

Fishing at Lafayette Reservoir has been picking up lately. Our last trout plant was on Tuesday Febuary 26th for 1,000 lbs of trout from Mt. Lassen hatchery. Our next trout plant is scheduled for Tuesday March 12th, for 1000 lbs from Mt. Lassen hatchery. Our annual fishing derby is on Saturday April 20th.
Bass- Dan Wilson caught a 6.2 lb bass, fishing off of the east cove. He was using a rip bait/lure. Eric Noda, pictured above from Danville caught a 5 lb bass fishing off of Harry's cove using a plastic worm for bait.
Trout- Wayne and Brandon Tam, Photo #1 from San Francisco caught a 5 lb trout using rubber worms fishing off of the east cove. 8 year old Dylan, Photo #2 from Discovery Bay caught four rainbow trout, the biggest being a 3.5lb trout. Dylan was fishing off of the south end using a rapala (broke back) as bait.
