Finally.... the reservoir has been producing the trout we know and love .....Lots of limits and size.... We had a slow start but that seems to have come to an end....The lake is a bit low due to the below average snowpack from this past winter..Marina is still open and hopefully will be able to operate through at least August....Get those Rain Dances going!!!!!!!!B
Grass has started to show up in most of the usual places but not as bad as we have seen say 4 or 5 years ago....For the the bait people most of the action has been from Green or Orange Power Bait... Inflated nitecrawlers suspended up from the bottom on a 3 to 4 foot leader is still foolin' the larger ones.....Try throwing any casting lure around the grass and weed beds...The best places lately have been the Ledge Line just south of Rainbow Point And to the East of Buckeye Bay In 5 to 15 feet of water......The fish just have not shown there fins in Buckeye or around the Robinson creek channels.... Still some HUGE Carp back there though......Trolling is almost at the end here until the cold temps of Fall get here....Too much STUFF in the water.....Although down by the Dam late in the evening or Very early in the morning would be something to try.....One good tip of fishing this reservoir is to think differently, try new stuff and do not be afraid to experiment with non-typical baits, lures and flies.....Saltwater streamers...Why not???

For the FLY-Fisher Folks......Again Finally!!!!! The indicator midge technique that Crowley has made so popular works here.... Big time....Lately right off the marina towards the Walker River Channel has been on fire to put it midly....One Guide from Mammoth put his client on 80 plus fish with several measuring over the 22 inch range.....Blood midges, Tigers, and Zebra's size 16 , 18 or 20's are the ticket to this ride......Also...use a sink line with Loberg's, mini- leeches, hornbergs, woolies. Matukas and generally any small or bigt streamer will get those grabs.....The hatches are midges, Callibaetis and the Damsels have been extremely active this year!!!!! Remember that this is a reservoir and not a high alpine lake where a fly with a bubble.

Call or stop by for the latest conditions, stock your fly box and any advice for fishing here , the East Walker or any of the local waters.

Bridgeport Reservoir

All indications are positive for a great season despite a below average snowfall for the Sierras. Do not worry, storms are on the horizon and we have all seen Feb./March and April produce a lot of moisture. The Reservoir is currently 3/4 full and ice-covered. Skating has been more than fun! Reports of late warning of the dreaded New Zealand Mud Snail invading the Hot Creek Hatchery cause some concern as to the stocking program. Rest assured there's a plan in motion...... Read More
