Fish Report for 3-3-2013
We are still finding good steelhead fishing on the Trinity
3-3-2013
The Fly Shop
Current River Conditions: Typically, the better days of winter steelhead fishing success become fewer and fewer by the middle of the month. But, in some years, steelhead keep coming all the way through early April. This could be one of those years. If you can, go this week. Saw some really good fishing today on the Trinity.
Icy road conditions mean your journey on HWY 299, west of Buckhorn summit, will be a careful, slow one.
The Fly Shop's?? Tips: A variety of techniques, using your 8-9 wt rod for Salmon, or a more adaptable 5-6 wt fly rod for small steelhead and aggressive browns will tie you into fish. Suspending nymphs under an indicator, stripping buggers and leeches, swinging muddlers or PT nymphs will produce hook-ups! Even dry flies should be in the plan. Bring a parachute Adams! Hey! The King Salmon will eat nymphs suspended under indicators. What a blast!
Road Conditions: Expect icy conditions in the AM and evening hours. Be very careful. Call 1-800.427.7623 for up to date Northern California Road Conditions.
