RAINBOW TROUT
Weekly stockings of rainbow trout to 10 lbs in size continue to keep fisherman happy with many 5 fish limits reported. Best fishing has been in the flats and around the bubble holes. Boats and float tubers are catching more fish than the shoreline anglers as trout have moved into deeper water. Fly fisherman are catch and releasing big numbers of trout using grey and silver bead head midges in 8' to 10' of water. Boats trolling with SC Shiner crank baits in orange-gold, silver-blue and black pearl are having great success working the big island to the launch ramp. Bait fisherman are catching trout soaking inflated night crawlers and power mouse's dipped in garlic and Berkleys 'new' hatchery pellet dough bait. Zone 1 and Zone 4 have been the best places to catch trout on the shoreline. Big trout of the week was caught by Michael Kue of Santa Ana with a 9 lb'er soaking chart. power bait at three pipes off a boat. Kevin Vaugh of West Covina landed a 7 lb trout soaking chart. power bait dipped in garlic off a boat in the flats. 12 trout in the 4 lb to 6 lb class were also weighed in at the scales last week.

BASS
INSANE bass fishing is on tap at Laguna Niguel Lake. Bass fisherman are reporting 10 to 30 fish days with bass up to 10 lbs being caught and released. Bass are chewing assorted plastic worms and crawdads. Purple and green have been the most productive colors. Bass are tucked in close to cover around the entire perimeter of the lake. Big bass of the week was reported by Jason Hughes of San Clemente with a 10 lb 04 oz hog that hit a Berkley black-purple crawdad on the left hand side of the dam in deep cover. Sean Brooks of Huntington Beach reported 22 bass in the 2 lb to 8 lb class in 6hrs of fishing.
