Fish Report for 2-18-2013
You won't find a better time to fish the Trinity than right now

The Fly Shop
Current River Conditions: The vast population of dedicated Trinity anglers have cycled through by mid February, leaving us alone with the preeminent winter run native steelhead that are the best of the best. Is the fishing good? Yes one day, tough the next. The numbers oriented angler might prefer the Lower Sacramento. The die-hard steelhead angler will just fall in love with the Trinity during the month of February.
Icy road conditions mean your journey on HWY 299, west of Buckhorn summit, will be a careful, slow one.
The Fly Shop's?? Tips:
A variety of techniques, using your 8-9 wt rod for Salmon, or a more adaptable 5-6 wt fly rod for small steelhead and aggressive browns will tie you into fish. Suspending nymphs under an indicator, stripping buggers and leeches, swinging muddlers or PT nymphs will produce hook-ups! Even dry flies should be in the plan. Bring a parachute Adams! Hey! The King Salmon will eat nymphs suspended under indicators. What a blast!
Road Conditions: Expect icy conditions in the AM and evening hours. Be very careful. Call 1-800.427.7623 for up to date Northern California Road Conditions.
