Fish Report for 2-10-2013
Steelhead fishing on the Trinity was tough for some anglers and incredible for others
2-10-2013
The Fly Shop
Current River Conditions: Fishing has been tough for some anglers this week. Good for others. One report had an incredible 11 steelhead (not too sure about that, but certainly steelhead were caught, and it was amazing, no doubt), another had 4 on and lost each one. A couple skunks, a brown trout on a dry fly... So good fishing happening along with tough fishing. And that's "Steelhead Fishing".
Good reports are coming out of the lower Trinity so we can expect more steelhead to arrive in the coming days. A little rain wouldn't hurt.
Icy road conditions mean your journey on HWY 299, west of Buckhorn summit, will be a careful, slow one.
The Fly Shop's?? Tips: A variety of techniques, using your 8-9 wt rod for Salmon, or a more adaptable 5-6 wt fly rod for small steelhead and aggressive browns will tie you into fish. Suspending nymphs under an indicator, stripping buggers and leeches, swinging muddlers or PT nymphs will produce hook-ups! Even dry flies should be in the plan. Bring a parachute Adams! Hey! The King Salmon will eat nymphs suspended under indicators. What a blast!
Road Conditions: Expect icy conditions in the AM and evening hours. Be very careful. Call 1-800.427.7623 for up to date Northern California Road Conditions. Here's a link to Cal-Trans Road Conditions: Click Here.
