American Angler's report for January 26 came through the office: "Capt. Kiyohara called in tonight to report steady fishing on 80-190lb tuna today. There were one to three fish going for the majority of the day, with a period of slack time in the afternoon. Today's highlights include Planet's 248-pounder and Ron Kaufman's 204. It was an ideal day because everyone on the boat caught a couple of nice fish and that's what it's all about: something for everyone!"
The next day's report said, "The boat checked in to update us on today's activities on the American Angler. They saw good sign of fish, however, it was tough fishing conditions and hard to get a bite. By lunchtime they had seven tuna and made a move. They are hoping to finish up in a big way."
