Kaufman Streamborn
Flows have increased to near 4000cfs in the Canyon the last couple days.?? Something about brutal heat tapping high snowfields, forcing increased flows from the reservoirs (still completely full!).?? Fair enough ??? so long as flows stay around 4000, or below, and stable, given a good oarsperson, there will be memorable fishing and catching days to be had.??
Summer Short-Winged Stones have began to crawl out.?? This is a #8-#10 tannish-brown adult that will be around until September.?? It won't take trout long to recognize this morsel anew.?? Add to these those Hoppers, also beginning to build in numbers, and Big Dry with a dropper starts to make an awful lot of sense.
Also be prepared to match PMD's (nymph, emerger, adult) early in the afternoon; and, be on the look-out for Yellow Sallies (#14-#16 2xl light yellow adult) getting into the water, whether by wind, or by ovipositing.?? PMD's and the Sallies are often confused when observed in flight, being very close in color and size.?? A positive ID can reap some heady dividends!
And, should the day's course prove slow for catching, be assured that the oppressive heat could have a whole lot to do with that.?? In any event, caddis activity in the evening can save the day!?? Ah, the magic hour?Ķ

Stillaguamish River Fishing Report 07-09-07
Stillaguamish RiverA good run of reports the first couple weeks of June, and not shy on flows yet (spiking a bit every day with the hot weather ??? still a lot of snow up in the high meadows), so definitely well worth a visit before the water stops coming, or the Pinks swarm the scene (whichever comes first).......
