Fish Report for 10-4-2012

The top water bite has been the best of the year at Lake Oroville

Ron Gandolfi

Hi everyone

This is the time of year I look forward to as the weather cools ( at least the nights and mornings ) and the Fall bite starts up. Lake Oroville is fishing really good now. The lake is currently 120 feet from the top and the water temp runs in the upper 60's low 70's in the afternoon. This cooler water has brought the pond smelt up to the top and the larger bass are right underneath them. The top water bite has been the best all year and will continue for another 6-8 weeks.

We are using reaction baits like, blades, crank baits, lipless crank baits. For deeper water we are using drop-shot, dart head worm, shaky head worm, Paradise Tackle jigs and finesse jigs, several types of Keiteck swim baits, and for top water action we are using pop-r's and spooks.

The fall bite gives us the action like that of the spring bite as we have numbers as well as nice sizes to go with them. I have a few dates open in Oct and am now booking for Nov. You can email me or you can call me at 530-872-0907 to book a trip. I look forward to connecting with you and as always.

Best regards,

Ron

As we speak it is dropping a foot an a half each day and is about 44 feet down now. This is not a bad thing, it is what it is doing what it was designed for. The water temp is 73-76 but will rise a little next week with a 5 day stretch of 100 degree days. The temp is not the only thing hot here as the fishing has been also. Yesterday my clients boated...... Read More
