Good fishing at Rock Creek, the hike is worth it
9-29-2012
The Trout Fitter Staff
Water Conditions: Good the flows are at 33 cfs as of 9/26.
Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good it is better to hike in a little bit to get away from everybody else. Some of the lakes along the trail are fishing very well in the early evening at inlets and outlets. Mostly small fish, but they've seen a lot of flies this summer. Or go way down below the lake and fish below the campgrounds.
Big and bright usually does the trick here.
Recommended Flies:
DRIES: Parachute Adams #16, Elk Hair Caddis #18, Crystal Humpy #16, Royal Coachman #16, Rubber Leg Stimulator, Yellow Humpy 18, Kaufman Stimulator 16, Taylor's Fat Albert #14
NYMPHS: Copper John #20-22, Red/Green Copper John #20-22, BH Prince Nymph #18, Stocker's BH Lightning Bug #18, Birds Nest Olive/Tan #16
Guides Hint: Dry dropper rigs are working best with a bright pattern on the bottom.
