Fishing at Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop had its ups and downs this week

Fishing at Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop has had its ups and downs this week. With rain everyday in the afternoon this week and hot and muggy conditions during the early part of the day, it has made fishing feel like a roller coaster ride, with highs and lows. We did receive another 900 pounds of DFG fish on Wednesday and a great looking load of Alper's Trout that we took out and dispersed throughout the lake on Wednesday also. The Alper's Trout weighed in at 105 pounds and consisted of 31 fish weighing an average of 3 and 1/3 pounds apiece. So in short, there are plenty of fish in Silver Lake to be had by all.
Using Garlic, Salmon Egg Red or Gulp Pinch Worms has been the steadiest bet of the week, either from the shore or from a boat. Taking it as deep as you can and bringing it back up about 24 to 30 inches off the bottom has been working well. Also, flipping a Thomas Buoyant Gold/Red or a Kastmaster as you float from the far end of the lake where Rush Creek dumps into Silver down to where Rush Creek dumps out of Silver Lake has been doing well. Some flies have also been doing well this week after the rain storms have subsided. Using a #16 Sierra Brite Dot or a #14 Royal Coachman has produced some nice trout this week. We still expect our weekly 900 pounds from DFG and should get yet another load of Alper's between now and Labor Day, so the fishing should be steady for the weeks to come.
Fish Of The Week:
Dena O'Shana, pictured above of La Mirada landed a nice 2 pound 6 ounce Rainbow her husband took a picture of using Power Bait
Photo # 1:Brian Sperkowski and friend caught a great looking stringer from Silver Lake using Garlic Power Baits
Mike Stumpy and Sue Gonzalez of Los Alamitos caught a great stringer full of trout from the shore of Silver Lake using Tasmanian Devils
Don't Forget that Silver Lake Resort has $45 Full Day Boat Rentals (7am to 7pm) and $35 Half Day Boat Rentals (7am to 1pm or 1pm to 7pm)
We are also getting ready for our big annual Labor Day Weekend Horse Tournament and BBQ Saturday September 1!!! Come on out for a great day of Raffles, BBQ and Horseshoe Tournament!!!
Also, if you are unable to make it up, don't forget you can always see the beauty of Silver Lake by checking out our web cam at silverlakeresort.net.
