It's a sensational summer billfish bonanza going on in Cabo San Lucas at this moment, the likes of which have not been seen for sometime.

Some of the boats in the various fleets had a dozen releases for a single fishing day and nearly all boats had multiple marlin releases through the week. The yellowfin tuna bite fell off this past week and reflected the loss of the fish to the purse seiners. Nevertheless, the overall catch report for the entire area was very upbeat and continues to provide some incredible surface action for the anglers. The overall combined catch reports for 24 days fished reflected 73 stripers, (69 releases) 2 sailfish released, 21 yellowfin tuna and 32 dorado, (12-15 lb. fish).

Cabo Climate: Warm and mostly sunny days with a few passing clouds. Temps from 76 nights to 97 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions:
It's been a great fishing week with good seas and temps that ranged from 86-87 at the Golden Gate Bank and down to Cabo Falso and slowly rose to 87-89 degrees on up to Gorda Banks and out to the 1000 fathom curve. Nearly all waters were reflected ultra blue clarity conditions.

Best Fishing Area: The billfish, tuna and dorado were all coming from the areas of the Herradura t o the Golden Gate area, all on the Pacific side of Cabo.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was the hot ticket for the billfish but plenty were being taken on the artificials, too. Same for the dorado and the tuna with the smaller feathers, cedar plugs working well.

Live Bait Supply: It's been a pretty good week for the bait, even as we passed through the full moon, live bait remained available.
