Fellow Sportsmen,
Here is a quick update before I go to bed. I have fished everyday since last report and we've experienced a variety of fish. The last 2 days we were doing catch and release shark fishing and sharks are not much of a problem in the South bay. The trick is fishing near the turn of the tide and the outgoing tide. The larger incoming tide did not seem to work that well.
Salmon has been on and off and on good days with a full-day effort over a fish a rod may be had. I am in mooching mode now and will continue mooching through the end of the season. We have not spent a full day salmon fishing due to a long day with long periods of little action. So we mix it up with Lingcod and rockfish and sometimes halibut. That way we get a full-day fishing with some good action. The rockfish and Lingcod have been doing very well during outgoing tide up down the coast. Limits are the norm for the Rockfish. We have actually picked up Salmon in 30 feet of water near shore.
I am still using live bait for everything and barbless circle hooks for everything outside the gate. We use large heavy circle hooks on the sharks. We do use an assortment of baits for the sharks in the bay. Look at the dates of the recent photographs and there you will see a good example of what a combo trip could do. Dad had a beautiful salmon and daughter had a nice Lingcod on the same day along with limits of rockfish. I think we will spend more time on Salmon tomorrow. The month of August is all booked full but I have some room in September. Enjoy the photos.

Captain Steve called in to tell about his fishing day on the Flash, "We had a good trip today, we left the Harbor at 7:00. Five people chartered the boat and they didn't want to leave until 7:00. We went out and we had easy limits of Rockfish no more than 3 miles up the coast. We also got 2 keeper Lingcod. Then we went up to Bonita Cove which was a little slow. So we ran out to the......
