"We had beautiful weather to go with one of the best fishing days we have had all year," said the report from Intrepid for July 25. "It was non-stop action on 18-45 pound yellowtail and 15-20 pound yellowfin tuna. Guys were getting bit best on fly-lined sardines on 30 and 40 pound outfits. Those fishing a short length of fluorocarbon leader and a 2/0 Mustad 94150 or 1/0 Owner Flyliner hook and a nose or shoulder hooked sardine were doing the best today. We caught a bunch on the yo-yo and surface iron as well. Seeing yellowtail boiling in the chum, eating baits right next to the boat, guys getting bit as soon as their bait hit the water.... it was like fishing in an aquarium. The two ladies we have on board did great today as well, good job Pennie and Cheryl! One of the coolest moments of the day was watching Luke Ofield fish the new Shimano Orca popper. Luke would make a cast, and as his popper would start splashing on the retrieve, he would have 5 or 6 yellowtail crashing on it. Awesome to watch!"
