The grand opening of Anaheim Lake will take place on Friday, July 13, and it's going to be a lucky day for anglers because the lake will be full and heavily stocked with both channel and blue catfish for the opening weekend bash.

In fact, there will have been at least five huge catfish plants before the opener. It will continue to get at least twice-weekly plants of catfish, and as Santa Ana River Lakes is drawn down for its summer maintenance, Anaheim Lake will get all of the catfish netted from SARL.

Anaheim Lake has been completely cleaned water has been flowing in from Lake Mathews since June 26. This is cool and clear water. The first plant of catfish went in Tuesday this week -- a big stock of blue cats - and plants were slated for Thursday this week and then three more next week before the 6 a.m. Friday, July 13 opening.
