The June 19 report for American Angler said, "The American Angler backed in at 5:30am, with a beautiful assortment of bluefin, yellowfin and yellowtail - like a tasty box of mixed chocolates. The tuna bled and ready for dinner, all carefully sorted and processed (with no long waiting time, thanks to our hard-working fish processors) to take home their precious catch of fresh fish.
A huge thanks to sponsor, Danny Kadota, who asked to post a few words on behalf of his generous donors."
Kadota said, "Dedicating this trip to Jim Shimizu (Tady Lures) and succeeding Jim is his son Joey, whose donations of 'old school' surface plugs (Tady 45's) and yo-yo irons have proven the test of time".
Mustad hooks also generously supplied each angler with a packet of designed hooks in ringed black nickel from 2/0 - 6/0 improving their opportunity in a touchy bluefin bite. Pacific Fly Group made it possible to outfit each crewmember and passenger with their own short sleeved "deck jacket", a huge hit with all those who wore it doing battle with our catch. Also a special thanks to American Angler regular, Joe Skinner, one of our group on this trip, who donated 2 beautiful, hand crafted wooden tackle boxes that he makes as a hobby, investing over 150 hours in labor alone, not counting the beautiful woods and hardware."
First place: Charles Parada 30.0 bluefin. Second place: Danny Kadota 29.4 bluefin. Third place: John Mckeeman 29.2 bluefin tuna."
