Papa Day was full of memories at Lake Sabrina
6-18-2012
Rick, Patti, Juanita and Jerrod
A Happy PaPa Day to all the PaPas out there - we think we had most of them at the Lake over the weekend and Ma Nature served up a glorious weekend for the families. Temperatures in the mid-70's, we did have a few ThunderBoomers on Thursday - a few sprinkles at the Lake - a bit more down by Cardinal Village and Aspendell.
Catching this week was good - spend the day at the Lake awesome - NightCrawlers, jigs (such as the Trout Trap), and Garlic PowerBait were the hot items at the Inlets. Again, NightCrawlers, Thomas Buoyant, WoolyBuggers or Flasher and a NightCrawler were being drug behind the trollers. Those just driftin' around the Lake were using NightCrawlers or PowerBait by the rock piles. And those of you that found a shady spot under the quaking Aspens were using NightCrawlers, Salmon Eggs and PowerBait.
Talk about PaPa Day memories, Ryann Gove wanted to bring her daddy Brad fishing for PaPa Day, well lo and behold, Ryann caught her first fish, pictured above at Lake Sabrina this weekend- Wooo-Hooo- way to go Ryann! Wayne and Mike Talley, Michael and Albert Zaragoza and Robert Brundger, photo # 1 caught some fine Rainbows and made some nice PaPa Day memories. Uncle Bryan sent a picture of his nephew Ryan and Kyle, photo # 2 - another memory made. Len Hunsicker a member of the Lake Sabrina Crew caught a nice little Brown - 2 ? pounder - on a Husky Jerk. To memories!
Had a GREAT time at the 3rd Annual Bishop Creek Lodge Luau - a hearty thanks to Gary and Susie, Derick and Tina, Sammy, Sara, Becka and the rest of the Bishop Creek Lodge staff for awesome time and Jim who brought all the fruit and a whole bunch of other goodies. An awesome time was had by all!
The California High School State Rodeo finals concluded on Friday - saw a lot of those kids at the Lake during the week - so fun to see them here especially in their spurs. Can't wait till next year!
Those of you who have been up to the Lake this year may have noticed the markings on the road and markers at the 2nd bridge - also known as Cadillac Corner - due to a brand spankin' new Cadillac not making the corner - ending up in the creek & bursting into flames (all parties survived). Inyo County is going to straighten the road and replace the bridge. Construction is to begin this month - the bridge is to be approximately 80 feet long and wide enough for two cars with pedestrian walk-ways on both sides. Stay tuned for future pictures and updates.
KEEPING THIS IN - Guess it's that time of year to remind you of a few things - when using BUG JUICE (the skeeter are out and they are BIG - BIGGER THAN BIG) or SANITIZER you need to really wash your hands before fishing - then rub some Salmon Egg juice, worm dirt or Anglers Bros Trout attractant (got it in stock at the Lake) to take that smell off. Remember your polarized dark glasses and sunscreen - we saw a few anglers that looked a bit like cooked lobster last year.
You can check www.weather.gov and enter ASPENDELL, CA on the site and it will give you a fairly good hint at the weather or check in with Howard atwww.MammothWeather.com.
And, of course, we'll have HOMEMADE pie and ice cream (until it's gone), sodas, beer, wine, coffee, tea and hot cocoa!
Looking forward to seeing you all in the very near future.
